What does the General Management Graduate Trainee Scheme consist of?

The scheme supports trainees in the development of the knowledge and experience needed to understand both our business, and that of our customers so that they can start to make an impact in as short a time as possible.

During the two year training programme, you will have four different placements, each approximately 6 months long, based at any of our UK locations. You will receive on and off the job training, mentoring and coaching, in a real life, challenging work setting, whilst making a recognisable contribution to the company. We have found that this is an excellent way to accelerate trainees’ development, but it does require you to be geographically mobile and flexible to make the most of it.

Covering a variety of sites and functions during the two years builds an appreciation of how our business operates as a world leading manufacturer, and an idea of the areas in which you are most interested, be that Commercial such as Sales or Marketing, Operational such as Manufacturing or Supply Chain – or maybe something different altogether.

Hear from Charlie Johnson (General Management Graduate Trainee Scheme)
As a recent grad I’ve enjoyed getting to know the business. At one of the sites, I implemented a Scanning QR code system in their engineering stores which ultimately helped to streamline the current process, creating better financial control, securing compliance and enabling the site to have parts as and when they are needed through Material Requirement Planning. One thing I’m taking away with me is that my voice matters, having the confidence and knowledge to put forward your ideas is rewarding and helps you become valued in the team.”
