Smurfit Kappa Gosport, an innovative sheet plant specialising in Flexo print and complex service offerings, currently has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, ambitious and self-motivated Sales Manager to join the senior leadership team.

Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for external sales; managing existing accounts and develop new business through the delivery of competent and efficient sales and building strong customer relationships.  Alongside this, they will create exciting opportunities using value-based selling methodology selling the key capabilities and solutions SK Gosport offer to meet the new business requirements of the Sales Strategy along with the wider product offerings of the SK Group.

The Sales Manager will also be accountable for internal sales and design working closely with operations to ensure customers receive excellent service.  The role has five direct reports.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create strategy for account management and new business development
  • Drive value proposition and ensure value is created for our customers
  • Manage and deliver on budgets and forecasts
  • Develop and lead sales teams to a higher standard of presentation and project management.
  • Set appropriate KPI’s for all direct reports.
  • Support in developing longer term positioning to input towards strategic direction and investment with the business
  • Develop relationships within customer base to maintain a high level of intimacy with those stakeholders
  • Full people management responsibilities for internal, external sales teams and design including people development and employee relations.
  • Liaise with other relevant departments as necessary to ensure continuous efficiency and performance.
  • Decisions on commercial pricing and estimating required daily.
  • Collation and challenging of budget figures.
  • Introduce use of CRM and use of VS Process.
  • Work with leadership team to resolve customer requests.
  • Where necessary interact with Pan European Sales and National Sales to coordinate on strategic multisite accounts.
     

Knowledge & Experience

  • Educated to degree level or has previous experience in a customer facing sales role.
  • Proven direct selling skills with an emphasis on winning New Business, in all market sectors.
  • Excellent awareness of effective account management.
  • Good commercial and technical awareness and the ability to develop our multi layered sales offering.
  • Good knowledge of customer sectors.
  • Solution driven with the ability to frequently come up with new and innovative ideas.
  • Good commercial acumen, awareness and understanding of the key business drivers.
  • Proven management skills with strong drive and focus in managing sales, people, budget and target achievement.
  • Excellent communication skills to influence various stakeholders and able to effectively bridge the gap between customer demands and operational capabilities.
  • Ability to develop vision and strategy.
  • Prepared to disrupt to achieve strategic goals.
  • Ability to make and communicate effective and concise decisions.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Clean driving licence.
