How our innovative packaging resulted in $170k logistics savings per year for Ventolini

The Challenge
Ventolini, a Colombian based restaurant and baked goods company needed to eliminate single-use packaging for their range of cakes. Their packaging wasted 75% of space, was not optimized for warehouse distribution and often caused damage to products. We were tasked with developing two packages: one to ensure the integrity of the cakes, and a second to optimize their distribution and improve storage.

The Approach
With our innovation tools, we created two new products. A folding carton solution was designed to eliminate single-use materials, facilitate product storage and contribute to the customer experience by allowing for customisation, improving Ventolini's point of sale display. The second customised corrugated solution optimised the logistical process, eliminating empty space and facilitating labelling.

The Result

Our two new packaging solutions allowed Ventolini to achieve multiple benefits, including; Logistics savings of $170,000 USD/year (storage, labour and transport), optimization of warehouse space and doubling the storage capacity, increase of 106% and 71% more cakes in the large and small references respectively in each shipment, a reduction in plastic usage by 84 tonnes/year and a reduction in CO2 emissions by 47 tonnes/year.
