How can we help you today?

Read how we helped Scania substitute non-biodegradable packaging materials

The Challenge
Scania were looking for a more sustainable and cost efficient solution for their windscreen packaging. The new pack would need to replace multiple packaging materials including polystyrene and plastic and achieve optimal cargo loading within the current supply chain. It also required efficient product protection for multiple window sizes and to increase packing time efficiencies.
Our Approach
We worked with Scania’s key stakeholders to identify their needs with the aim of reducing their costs. We analysed every aspect of Scania’s supply chain and compared it with insights that have been gathered from over 60,000 supply chains globally.
The Result
Smurfit Kappa developed an innovative solution that replaced non-biodegradable materials with 100% recyclable paper. The new design resulted in a 72% reduction in packing time, a 50% reduction in transport costs and an annual savings of €300K.
