Creating a flexible display for Nestlé that meets retail demands

The Challenge
When new warehouse height restrictions were introduced by a major retailer, an existing Nestlé display risked being discontinued. The display no longer met the new maximum height for prepacked units. The customer’s initial suggestion was to remove the top shelf entirely to comply, but that meant fewer products on the shelf and a less impactful display.

The Approach
To address the challenge, our designers proposed another solution in which the top shelf was made removable and could be temporarily placed on a lower level during transport. This brought the unit under the height limit without reducing the number of products. Once the unit is in the store, the shelf is easily moved back to its original position, restoring the full display.

The Result
The new design, with the removable top shelf, delivered the same display as before with the same product count while fully complying with the retailer’s new requirements. A simple but effective adjustment kept the display alive without compromise. The innovative design also earned recognition as a winner at the Scanstar awards, which honor packaging designed, manufactured or used in the Nordic region.
