Chambe-Agri-Fruits Case Study

SUCCESS STORY

Helping cherry shippers in the Bessenay region of France switch from plastic to paper-based punnets

The Challenge

Chambe Agri and Cerifrais work in partnership shipping cherries from the Bessenay region of France, under the brand of 'Cerise de Bessenay'.  Their fruit is produced with the utmost respect for the environment, and they wanted their packaging to reflect this commitment. The challenge was to replace plastic punnets with a paper-based alternative and help improve customer appeal.

The Approach

Our  Better Planet Packaging team designed a paper-based punnet with two die-cut holes that, when joined together, form a carry handle secured by a snap system. Additional die cuts in the design provide consumers with good visibility of the cherries. Made from E-Flute corrugated board, the punnet offers the necessary strength and rigidity to hold 750 grams of fruit.

The Result

The new punnet, made from renewable, recyclable, and recycled materials, aligns with the brands sustainability goals and enhances consumer perception of the brand. The basket-style design creates an artisan feel for the product, and the four-colour offset print helps them differentiate themselves and further build their brand.
