Employee engagement

Thumbs-Up

In Smurfit Kappa, your voice matters.

In 2014, we launched My Voice, our first ever global employee engagement survey. Over 34,000 of our employees responded to My Voice, giving us vital feedback on their views and suggestions for improvements in the workplace. This led to practical, tangible results, with over 1,200 actions and improvements made as a result in our facilities around the globe. These fell under three broad headings:

  • Communications – where better communication channels were established on the overall performance of the company as well as on local issues.
  • Recognition – recognising and acknowledging teams or individuals who have gone above and beyond what was expected of them in their work.
  • Career Opportunities – career progression opportunities were more clearly defined at all levels within the group.

Feedback about this new channel of communication was extremely positive, because it gave our staff a greater say in the running of the company and identifying initiatives that will lead to future success.

Another My Voice survey was taken in 2017 and we are currently collating the information from that, again with a view to implementing the initiatives and ideas for improvement.
