At Smurfit Westrock, we’re passionate about nurturing future talent and embracing the exciting potential that the next generation can offer. We believe in the importance of giving young people the best possible start to their careers by stimulating their curiosity, encouraging creativity, and opening their eyes to the variety of careers available to them.

 

Recognizing this responsibility, Smurfit Westrock Piteå launched an inspiring initiative in 2018, inviting teenage students from the Piteå municipality to explore their mill to experience the ambitions and operations of a global, sustainability-led company firsthand. As students stepped into the facility, they were greeted by enthusiastic employees who shared stories of innovation and diverse career paths in our industry. In total, approximately 3,150 students have visited the mill with overwhelmingly positive feedback and appreciation, while the mill has also enjoyed becoming even more connected to the local community.

 

The Smurfit Westrock facility in Oss in the Netherlands also opened its doors to students as part of a regional career exploration day, further showcasing the company’s commitment to inspiring future talent. Three groups of students were welcomed, each gaining valuable insights into what a career in a forward-looking industry can offer.
