SUCCESS STORY

Enabling flexible grocery delivery for Denmark’s leading online supermarket

The Challenge
Nemlig.com’s grocery deliveries were mainly handled using reusable plastic crates and thermo boxes. While durable, the system required customers to be home for delivery or store empty crates until collection, limiting flexibility. The company sought a more convenient option without replacing its established reusable setup. Any new solution had to integrate with existing packing lines, stacking configurations and logistics flows without disrupting operations.

The Approach
Smurfit Westrock developed a recyclable corrugated solution to work alongside plastic crates and thermo boxes. Delivered flat and machine-erected within Nemlig.com’s systems, it integrates smoothly into operations. Reinforced corners ensure secure stacking, while an integrated locking system protects contents without tape. The solution enables unattended delivery and can be easily folded and recycled, simplifying the customer experience.

The Result
The new corrugated box gives nemlig.com greater flexibility in its delivery model, enabling unattended deliveries while maintaining logistical efficiency. By complementing the reusable crate system rather than replacing it, the solution supports a balanced and scalable setup. Customers benefit from increased convenience, while the recyclable design helps reduce plastic usage and supports brand visibility and communication across deliveries through printed surfaces.
