Smurfit Kappa launches new EveryOne Inclusion and Diversity programme

Smurfit Kappa has launched a new global inclusion and diversity (I&D) programme to embrace and celebrate its global, multi-cultural workforce.

The new ‘EveryOne’ initiative has been rolled out across Europe and the Americas to encourage all employees to play their part in creating an even more inclusive workplace.

The launch of the new campaign is another step forward in Smurfit Kappa’s commitment to inclusion and diversity. For many years, the company has run an ‘Open Leadership’ development programme for managers which is based on several principles including self-awareness, embracing learning and making the most of diversity. The launch of ‘EveryOne’ develops and extends the inclusion and diversity and element for all levels of the organisation.

Speaking about the launch, Smurfit Kappa Vice President of Human Resources, Gianluca Castellini, said: “We are very excited about launching EveryOne. The only thing that we truly have in common is diversity and we are encouraging people to harness the power of these differences and make the most of them.

“EveryOne means each one of us; every single person that makes up Smurfit Kappa. Each one of us has something unique to give and EveryOne seeks to give us all the platform and confidence to unpack and develop our talents.”

The new campaign made its debut at Smurfit Kappa’s European Management Conference in Berlin in September where over 350 employees came together to sign a special ‘Pledge Wall’ as a sign of their commitment to make the company an even more inclusive place to work. The initiative was mirrored in Miami at the Americas Management Conference last week, with over 150 managers signing the pledge.

A series of activities designed to heighten awareness and create a more inclusive working environment, including workshops, training for managers and people with a variety of other roles in Smurfit Kappa, and the development of local I&D action plans, will be undertaken throughout 2019 - 2020.
