In October 2021, Smurfit Kappa completed the acquisition of Verzuolo, a state-of-the-art 600,000 tonne containerboard paper mill in Northern Italy. We warmly welcomed the highly experienced and skilled team into the Smurfit Kappa family and took this opportunity to integrate into local community.

The town of Verzuolo is built around the paper mill and we wanted to show our deep commitment to this new community in which we are privileged to operate. In 2022 we were delighted to be able to fund an inclusive children’s park and defibrillator for the Verzuolo municipality. In 2023, our colleagues voted to support the local kindergarten.
