Plant Manager, Smurfit Kappa Packaging Solutions
My Father worked with the company for 45 years. It always appealed to me as a fantastic place to work and to have a career.
My career path with the company:
I joined the company in 1989 as a Sales intern. I held this role for a year after which I became a Sales Executive. I then joined our operations at the time in North America as a Sales Executive and worked there for 3 years returning to Ireland in 1996 again as a Sales Executive. In 2000 I became Sales Manager and held this position for 2 companies in 2005. In 2010 I became Plant Manager at the SKPS facility which was closely followed in 2011 when I also became Plant manager of our Arklow Site.
What has been the most rewarding experience at Smurfit Kappa?
Many experiences over my 22 years have been highly rewarding but one of the highlights was completing the Smurfit Kappa AMD course. A close second would be winning a Sales Achievement award during my time in North America
What advice would you give someone considering joining Smurfit Kappa?
I would highly recommend a career with Smurfit Kappa to anyong looking to be challenged and motivated by their work. Once here take every opportunity that comes your way particularly the chance to work across the group in different countries.
