Smurfit Kappa invests €4.2 million at Rethel plant in France
18 January 2012
Smurfit Kappa France invests in a fourth Rotary Die Cutter at its Rethel Corrugated Plant.
The investment of 4.2 million Euro at Rethel in the North-East region of France is aimed at supporting Smurfit Kappa’s development strategy with brand owners in Fast Moving Consumer Goods. This was the logical next step after three identical projects that were successfully implemented in recent years at Bigny (Centre), Mortagne (West) and Saint Seurin (South-East) and the project demonstrates Smurfit Kappa’s market strength in the region.
The Göpfert Evolution HBL with 4 colour high quality Flexo can convert up to ten thousand sheets of corrugated board per hour into packaging used in food and beverages (Retail Ready) or E-Commerce (Ready for Use).
Consumer goods make up about 70% of the sales at Rethel and Smurfit Kappa’s growth with multinational accounts in the region helped to support this investment with the Group’s top management.
The opening took place today and a number of local politicians and Smurfit Kappa top management were present at the event.
