What has been your greatest moment of innovation?

I am most proud of the carry pack I developed for the wine market. I designed a cost effective pack which was both easy to assemble and carry, and suitable for 80% of wine bottles in the Argentinian market. The pack is manufactured with a built-in fitment that securely holds and protects the bottles in transit.

This innovative one-piece solution replaces traditional two piece (box and divider) solution and the benefits have been:

  • Reduced shipping costs
  • Lower carbon footprint
  • Requires less storage space
  • Lower inventory of packaging products

What inspired you to come up with the solution?

It is very strange because we didn´t have a problem to solve. We tried to break a paradigm. We wanted to make something new, functional and different. This allowed us to stand out from the competition.

What happened next?

I won the overall prize at the Smurfit Kappa Latin America Innovation Awards 2011 event. This type of event makes you feel that all the hard work and effort was worthwhile. This is one of those moments that I will never forget and it is an incentive to continue creating and generating new ideas. Now we have to find other innovations that allow us break more paradigms.
