Medium Mill Paper Machine Superintendent

Why did I join Smurfit Kappa?

I joined the organization in 1979 to further my knowledge of the paper industry, and to be part of future growth of the company.

My career path with the company

I started with Corrugated Services in 1979 as a Stock Prep Helper.  There was only one mill at the time (Medium) and less than 50 employees.  I left Medium in 1996 and worked on the Liner Mill start up team, then stayed on as a crew supervisor until 2006.  I went back to Medium as Superintendent.

What I am currently working on?

Phase Two of the Medium Machine rebuild, including Dry End and Stock Prep.  Ongoing process improvements to improve our safety and production.

What has been the most rewarding experience at Smurfit Kappa?

Knowing I am a part of something much bigger – the rebranding and rebuilding of the entire company.  Having more opportunities to grow and help make Smurfit Kappa the best.

What does one working week look like?

Each week has it’s own set of challenges – take each head on!

What advice would you give someone considering joining Smurfit Kappa?

Smurfit Kappa Orange County is made up of hard working and dedicated employees who are continually striving to be the best!  Come on and join us!
