New: Recent Capital Investment

Martin-day 7 002.jpg

Smurfit Kappa Lurgan are pleased to announce their recent investment in a state of the art 4 colour Martin 924 NT Rapidset folder flexographic gluer. This machine is the very latest of its type in the UK and Ireland and represents a significant jump forward in the capability and capacity of the Lurgan plant. The Martin incorporates the highest possible level of print technology, die-cut flexibility and defect detection and is far in advance of any other folder flexographic gluer currently available in the market.

The printing section of the machine is equipped with a full set of fixtures which make high graphics easy to manage under extremely tight register and kiss touch pressures. The NT technology is ideal for printing on coated paper; it has the latest infra-red drying capabilities and is capable of processing the full range of fluting types. The die-cut section is again capable of the widest possible range of complex styles, from simple regular slotted cases with handles or holes, through those with asymmetrical creasing lines and even Bag-in Box styles. The Quality detection systems built into the machine covers a wide range of defects so that the product produced complies with the customer specification every single time.

This investment will allow Smurfit Kappa Lurgan to increase capacity and quality, reduce waste and energy and to lower lead times so that our customers benefit from a simplified supply chain and a much faster delivery-to-market.
