Mark

Innovation and Development Manager

"I am really proud to be member of this great and winning team."

Why did i join Smurfit Kappa?

I did one of my university internships at Smurfit Kappa in the Netherlands. For me this was a very good experience and in comparison to the other internships, Smurfit Kappa was by far the best and most interesting company and industry. The passion its employees have for their work and the feeling that you are a valuable member of the team, made me very eager to work for Smurfit Kappa.

My career path with the company

I started in 2002 as a Process Engineer and in 2007 I became head of the Development and Quality department. In 2011 I became a member of management team in and I am currently responsible for the departments of Development, Quality, Water treatment plant, Engineering, QESH, Sustainability and Energy.

What does one working week look like?

Due to the diversity of my work and the projects I am involved in, I have weekly meetings with the project leaders and process engineers on how to review and manage all the projects . So more than 50% meetings and the other time is spent on daily management of people and trouble shooting.

What advice would you give someone considering joining Smurfit Kappa?

Smurfit Kappa is a great organisation to work for! It is an organisation in which people make the difference and good ideas and initiatives are recognised and supported. Once you are a part of the team, you will want to stay a part of the team!
