ROLE SUMMARY (purpose)

A unique opportunity in influence the safe operation of a multi-site Cluster - supporting the Cluster CEO and line management to operate in line with SKG & European H&S Policies by developing local standards and management systems. Support and challenge (where necessary) the implementation of said system.

Work with the SK Europe VP H&S to influence and support the development and implementation of a central European H&S Framework.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

REPORTS TO (TITLE): Cluster CEO

DIRECT & INDIRECT REPORTS: Cluster CEO & VP H&S Europe

KEY INTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS: Cluster ExCom SK Europe Senior H&S Team

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND WORK OUTPUTS

  • To support (with timely challenge) the Cluster CEO to ensure that the Cluster procedures and management systems are sympathetic to SKG & European requirements.
  • Ensure the Cluster implement (and own) their agreed Strategy, systems and processes across all sites.
  • Support, advise and coach line management to adopt and use H&S procedures across the Cluster.
  • Monitor compliance with SKG & European Policies.
  • Monitor and report on H&S performance within the Cluster and subsequently hold the business to account for performance as required.
  • Ensure that H&S Improvement Plans are developed and challenge the implementation of these.
  • Manage the performance and activities of the H&S Advisors at each location.
  • Promote consistent application of Standards and recording/reporting of incidents.
  • Develop relevant initiatives to influence managers and employees to analyse and improve behaviours and attitudes.
  • Clear understanding of H&S functional costs and budget control within the Cluster in support of the overall budget. SKG & European requirements inbuilt to Cluster H&S Strategy.
  • Functioning team that are Performance managed.
  • Effective use of the safety management system.
  • Periodic challenge to operations performance based on empirical evidence.
  • A clear and applied annual Safety Improvement Plan.

  • Development and management of professional teams with associated budget control.
  • Clear understanding and belief in behavioural based safety and visible felt leadership.
  • Coaching, mentoring and developing people.
