Smurfit Kappa at Fachpack packaging fair

As world leader in paper-based packaging, Smurfit Kappa sees international packaging trade fair, Fachpack, as the ideal platform to present our new ideas and to discuss possibilities  for the future. 

Both at the main stand (Halle 7, Stand 216) and at the special show ‘Unpacking Made Easy’ (Halle 7, Stand 325), our focus this year is innovative and sustainable solutions.

The four key words that dominate this year's trade fair for Smurfit Kappa are Enthusiasm, Experience, Performance and Responsibility.

 

ENTHUSIASM - Enthusiasm for what seems impossible at first. Important features of Smurfit Kappa are the outstanding knowledge networks of our different specialists, along with transnational exchanges at all levels. This networking results in a creative, dynamic system from which brilliant ideas and innovations emerge. An example is the Viscotainer®, which can be seen at the special ‘Unpacking made easy’ show.

EXPERIENCE– Our knowledge continues to grow! A European innovation database, a product catalogue, a retail database, automation skills – knowledge that is spread throughout Europe and is available to every employee. This is what makes the difference for Smurfit Kappa customers. This knowledge can be found in any of the Smurfit Kappa exhibits at Fachpack. For instance, the award-winning ‘Care’ bottle packaging would never have been created without the innovation database as a source of ideas.

PERFORMANCE –Knowledge only has value if it is put to good use. Standardized online methods, implemented in applications such as PackExpert, Paper2Box and Design Simulation, enable Smurfit Kappa to quickly and efficiently simulate the appearance of sales packaging on the shelf without time-consuming testing. For example, the advertising effectiveness of promotional packaging could thus be tested and adapted in a virtual store in advance.

RESPONSIBILITY – We package products – and open perspectives. All Smurfit Kappa paper mills in Europe are 100% FSC and/or PEFC certified. Forty-two per cent of our energy comes from renewable sources, and CO² emissions have been reduced by 12% since 2005. Every day, Smurfit Kappa addresses the topics of sustainability, social responsibility and economic efficiency. Fachpack provides another opportunity to talk with visitors about sustainability and possible solutions.
