It’s raining prizes over dewatering specialist Areco
Cooperation with Smurfit Kappa leads to Packaging Design Award
The Malmö-based company Areco are specialists in roof dewatering systems and are normally used to handling all forms of precipitation. But now it has suddenly started raining design prizes over them as well!
Areco has won the Swedish home magazine Packmarknaden’s first prize in the design category for its new product range of accessories for drainpipes and gutters. Packaging in five sizes has been introduced for products such as gutter angles, adapters and pipe bends, which are sold under the Caracol brand.
The packaging series has been developed in close cooperation with Smurfit Kappa and the award was presented by Packmarknaden at Scanpack 2012. Smurfit Kappa cooperated with Areco to aid them in the process of harmonizing the graphic designs to the different sizes of the regular slotted cases. This has resulted in the various sizes looking great and in harmony with each other on the shelf.
The Packmarknaden prize category, called the Packaging Design Award, is awarded to a company that launches imaginative, innovative and eye-catching packaging. With the packaging for the Caracol product range, Areco has definitely gone against the stream in the quite conservative construction sheet metal sector, where traditionally products have not been differentiated in this striking way.
By creating the Caracol brand and packing it in attractive packaging designs, Areco has chosen to stand out from the competitors in terms of name, colour choice and design.
