Smurfit Kappa is a major user of fresh fibre for the manufacture of kraftliner and other containerboard products. In France, Spain, Colombia and Venezuela, Smurfit Kappa manages own forests and produces forest products such as chips and timber from its own sawmills.

Both as a producer and purchaser of fresh fibre Smurfit Kappa ensures that all forest products meet the international requirements for sustainability.

Recovered Paper

Used paper and cardboard need never end up as waste. It is a valuable fibre source that can be recycled into new paper and packaging materials. At Smurfit Kappa, recovered paper is a key source of prime raw material and is used by all solid board mills and most containerboard mills.

Smurfit Kappa’s own paper recovery operations in Europe and Latin America handle millions of  tons of waste paper every year.
